A revised version of the SOL-Q

In online learning environments, learners are provided more autonomy than in traditional, campus-based education. In order for students to be successful learners in these independent learning environments, they have to be actively involved in their learning process: they must engage in self-regulated learning. The Self-regulated Online Learning Questionnaire, in short SOL-Q, was developed in order to be able to measure learners’ self-regulated learning in online learning environments. The development of the SOL-Q and the final version of the questionnaire have been published in 2016 in the Journal of Computing in Higher Education. The article (open access) can be found here: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12528-016-9125-x.

While the questionnaire provides a valuable tool, few improvements could be made. The SOL-Q has therefore been revised, resulting in the SOL-Q-R. A description of the revisions and reliability analyses of the SOL-Q-R has been submitted for publication in conference proceedings to appear later this year. Below, we already present the full SOL-Q-R. If you want to measure learners’ self-regulated learning in online education, you can use this revised version.
